Who governs admission to the Bar in Kentucky? The Constitution and laws of the State of Kentucky grants jurisdiction to the Kentucky Board of Bar Examiners to control admission to the bar. The Supreme Court, by rule, created the Kentucky Board of Bar Examiners to administer the bar process through which persons seeking to become admitted may prove their eligibility. In addition, Supreme Court Rules 2.040 of the rules of the Supreme Court of Kentucky Relating to the Admission of Persons to Practice Law charges the Character and Fitness Committee with the responsibility to screen all applicants for admission to practice law. Applicants who are recommended to the Kentucky Supreme Court by the Board of Bar Examiners are eligible for admission to the bar.
