Kentucky Office of Bar Admissions

Once I disclose my confidential medical, psychological, or chemical dependency treatment records to the Committee, will the Committee keep those records confidential?

   The Committee is required to hold in the strictest confidence all records received in the admission process.  Rule 2.008 of the Rules of the Supreme Court of Kentucky Relating to the Admission of Persons to Practice Law specifically addresses this issue.  The Committee shall not disclose to anyone other than the applicant any information with respect to the character and fitness or examination results of any applicant except:

       upon written authority of such applicant, upon payment of any fees
         required by the Committee for copies or reports;

       in response to a valid subpoena form a court of competent
         jurisdiction;

       to the Director, Kentucky Bar Association.
